For this 25th anniversary year of Teaching for Change, we are hosting a series of special events. The first three events are author talks hosted by Teaching for Change at Busboys and Poets (14&V) in Washington, D.C.

Jesse Hagopian (Tuesday, April 14, 6:30pm-8pm) helped launch the boycott of high-stakes testing in Seattle. Hagopian will discuss the new book More Than a Score: The New Uprising Against High-Stakes Testing. Author introduction and moderated discussion by journalist Dave Zirin with local educators. Enid Lee (Thursday, May 21, 6:30pm-8pm) leads workshops in schools across the country on Putting Race on the Table and is a co-editor of Beyond Heroes and Holidays: A Practical Guide to K-12 Anti-Racist, Multicultural Education and Staff Development. She will be interviewed by Open Society Foundations program officer Allison Brown about ways in which schools can ensure all Black lives matter. This event is sponsored by Teaching for Change, Washington Teachers Union, and Busboys and Poets.
Sonia Nieto (Wednesday, May 27, 6:30pm-8pm) is a leading author on multicultural education. Nieto will discuss and sign her new books, Why We Teach Now and Finding Joy in Teaching Children of Diverse Backgrounds. This event is sponsored by Teaching for Change, Busboys and Poets, College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University, American Studies Department/US Latina/o Studies of the University of Maryland, and the National Education Association.
The events are free and open to the public. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
